 28 June, 2023:India’s Auto and Bike taxi platform, Rapido Auto recently partnered with ANEW (Association for Non-traditional Employment for Women) in Chennai. This objective of this collaboration was to generate employment opportunities for underprivileged women by encouraging them to become auto-rickshaw drivers on the Rapido platform and providing them autos for the same. Representatives from Rapido Auto and ANEW were present at the official flag- off ceremony. This collaboration is being viewed as Rapido’s commitment of offering a platform to the marginalized women by empowering and uplifting them, so that they can earn a sustainable livelihood. 15 June, 2023:Help Age India, released Its’ National 2023 report– “Women & Ageing: Invisible or Empowered? a day ahead of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15th. The report covered the entire length and breadth of the country including rural & urban India. These comprised 20 states, 2 UTs and 5 metro cities including, Maharashtra and Mumbai. The sample size of 7911, included various socio-economic categories. The sample size in Maharashtra including Mumbai had a sample size of 619 respondents. Out of the elder women residing in Mumbai 61 % owned some kind of asset, namely vehicles, house and agricultural or nonagricultural land. 30th May, 2023- A Financial Literacy programme “Saksham” which is a CSR initiative of Home Credit India (HCIN), a local arm of the leading global consumer finance provider, recently concluded this programme in collaboration with Indian Development Foundation (IDF) its’ implementation partner, a private non-profit organization. Project Saksham was carried out from July 2022 till March 2023, over a period of 9 months. The core objective of the Saksham financial literacy project is to impart basic financial education among marginalized women & girls in order to further their empowerment and facilitate their informed financial decisions. The Saksham project had nearly 30,000 women participants which included girl students, maids, homemakers, and daily wage earners.  There were 605 financial literacy workshops conducted

 An innovative programme “Nari Shakti” seeking to empower girls and women from marginalized communities was launched recently. The Flipkart Foundation, under the Flipkart Group partnered with a leading NGO Deepalaya to kick start this. This project is slated to be implemented in two centers, covering Titron in Uttar Pradesh and Tavru district in Haryana.  This initiative plans to create new career opportunities by imparting training to 600 girls in Beauty Culture & Wellness and Fashion Designing. Deepalaya, supports underprivileged women, children and youth. The training that will be given to the 600 women and young girls will plant the seed of financial independence. They will also be encouraged to start micro enterprises and embark on the journey of sustainable livelihoods.
